The latest project at Garden of Praise is the addition of Google book previews on the biography pages. I have searched for online books which will be of interest to children and also to teachers who are looking for resources for teaching about famous people. There are Amazon books to accompany some of the links. For instance, on the George Washington page you can preview 31 children's books about that president.

Teachers, you may want to use some of the book previews in your lessons. If you are in the computer lab, you could work with a certain book as each child has a copy of the book on his or her computer screen. You might want to give the children time to explore the books in the "Library".

If you see a book you would like to purchase, you can find it new or used at Amazon. Some used books can be purchased for a few cents or a couple of dollars + $3.99 for postage. I make very little profit from Amazon, but I'm offering this feature as a service.

Helen Keller: rebellious spirit

We have one new biography at Garden of Praise.

William Wilberforce was a member of the British Parliament in the 1800's. His life's passion was to abolish slavery. Through his efforts the Slave Trade Act was passed in 1807 making it illegal to transport slaves. Twenty-six years later shortly before his death a bill was passed abolishing slavery in the British Empire. A movie, Amazing Grace, was made in 2007 depicting his life.

Here's a teaching idea for your Bible classes.

Stephen Ussery a member of the Garden of Praise community, has shared some ideas for using hats when presenting Bible object lessons. Children don't forget lessons such as these.

A Personal Note:

We had two large snowfalls this past winter which is unusual for Dallas. But now spring is here and the roses and azaleas are blooming. I love this season. One Saturday in April our daughter came and stayed with Murray and I attended the Plano Garden Show where my granddaughter Veronica was among the artists demonstrating how to use watercolors to create floral paintings. She is taking a watercolor class at Collin College. (She is the same granddaughter whose baby image is on the Garden of Praise banner.)
