These two new offerings at Garden of Praise should be of interest to students, teachers, and music lovers.
The biography of Phillis Wheatley is the inspiring story of a little girl who was brought from Africa as a slave to America in the 1700's. Her owners, the Wheatley family, named her for the ship on which she traveled and treated her well. They educated her and she became a poet. She wrote a poem about General George Washington and he invited her to visit with him. Phillis became one of the most educated women in Boston.
Aaron Schulman is writing a series of guitar lessons for those who would like to learn how to play that instrument. He has four lessons so far and there are more to come. Aaron, a stay-at-home dad with three little girls, is a guitar teacher and webmaster.
A Personal Note:
We are thankful for the warmer weather. Murray is able to go to church now and he rides to the post office with me. He enjoys getting out of the house for these brief excursions. Elton and Leslie, our son and daughter-in-law helped me set up a netbook by his chair in the den. With our webcams he can see me as I work in the office and I can see how he's doing in the other room. The problem is getting him to remember where to look for me. We just take a day at a time.
We have a new caregiver/housekeeper. Her name is Maria and she is wonderful. She has worked for our daughter for seven years and came highly recommended.
