Summer is here and the kids are out of school. They might be interested in learning about two people we have featured in the biographies this month.

Michael Faraday lived in England in the late 1700s and 1800s. His invention of the electric motor and dynamo makes possible the generation of electricity today.

Dean Kamen, another inventor, is responsible for the Segway people transporter, a wheelchair that will climb stairs, an artificial arm for soldiers returning from the battlefield, and a water distillation machine which offers the possibility of clean water to countless people in underdeveloped countries.

The Nursery Rhymes book containing beautiful color illustrations is for those who work with preschool and kindergarten children. Each rhyme has several questions for developing listening comprehension.

The Birthdates page is a listing of all the people listed in the biographies and famous artists pages. If you as a teacher want to plan units around the birthdates of famous people this page can help you.

A Personal Note:

I sew with the ladies at church two days a week. We make pillows, walker bags, chemo caps and other things for the patients at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. At the present time we are also making costumes for the Vacation Bible School drama which this year is about David and Goliath. It's a time I look forward to each week.
