Leah
Leah
was the older
daughter
of Laban. She had a younger sister
Rachel who had been
promised to
Jacob in marriage. When it came
time for the wedding, her
father
Laban substituted brides and Jacob
found he was married to Leah
instead of Rachel, whom he loved.
Leah longed for her husband to
love
her as he loved her sister,
but it never happened. She had six
sons.
Their names were Reuben,
Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar,
and Zebulun.
Then she had a daughter
whom she named Dinah. When they
left her
father's country they met
Esau, Jacob's brother. He had 400
men with
him. Jacob feared the worst
and put his favorite wife Rachel in
the
most protected place. He put Leah
and her children in front of Rachel.
At the end of their lives Leah would
be the wife to be buried by her
husband.
