Tune: "He is Able to Deliver Thee"

Verse 1
I-saac and his wife would be filled with joy;
They were blessed one day with two ba-by boys.
E-sau would be strong ev-'ry-where he wen-t,
Bu-t Ja-cob stayed near-by the ten-t.

Refrain *
E-sau was a migh-ty hun-ter;
Hair-y man and crude was he-e.
Ja-cob had smooth skin
Pleased his mo-ther, then-n
He would soon from E-sau have to flee-ee.

Verse 2
E-sau came one day from the field so weak,
He was hung-ry and to his bro-ther speaks,
"Give me food or I'll nev-er live this ni-ght".
Ja-cob tra-ded for his bir-th-ri-ght.

Refrain *
E-sau was a migh-ty hun-ter;
Hair-y man and crude was he-e.
Ja-cob had smooth skin
Pleased his mo-ther, then-n
He would soon from E-sau have to flee-ee.

Verse 3
I-saac asked E-sau for some food one day.
He pre-pared to hunt and went on his way.
Ja-cob with the help of his mo-ther sly-y
Got the bless-ing with a great big li-e.

Refrain *
E-sau was a migh-ty hun-ter;
Hair-y man and crude was he-e.
Ja-cob had smooth skin
Pleased his mo-ther, then-n
He would soon from E-sau have to flee-ee.

Verse 4
Ja-cob ran a-way from his bro-ther's wrath.
Knew that he would fol-low a dif-'rent path
Went to sleep that night. He was all a-lo-ne,
For a pil-low used a cold hard sto-ne

Refrain
He saw an-gels in a drea-m,
And to Ja-cob they did see-m
To go up to hea-ven and then God spo-ke,
Gave his bles-sing, then the man a-wo-ke.

Verse 5 Jacob:
"Sure-ly God was here, and I did not know
That the Lord would be wher-er-'ere I go.
It's the gate of hea-ven, the house of Go-d.
See the hal-lowed grou-nd I have tro-d.

Refrain *
E-sau was a migh-ty hun-ter;
Hair-y man and crude was he-e.
Ja-cob had smooth skin
Pleased his mo-ther, then-n
He would soon from E-sau have to flee-ee.
