ADDITION

Nathaniel has been sitting on the same hill watching over 4 sheep for several days. The grass is starting to get a little thin, but he knows he is supposed to wait here until his brother arrives.

Around lunch time his older brother finally shows up. Trailing behind him are 4 new sheep for Nathaniel to care for. How many sheep will he have with the addition of these new ones?

Now Nathaniel has twice as many sheep to care for. His brother brought him enough food to last for several days, so he won't go hungry. He has his staff to keep the sheep from straying and a pile of rocks he has collected to throw at animals that might attack the sheep.
