Tyrolean Minstrels
painted by Franz Defregger
Defregger was a shepherd boy for his father when he was young. Even when he was a child he began to show an interest in art. He would model with clay or dough and make figures of his sheep or his friends. Sometimes he would cut paper with scissors and make a picture of a landscape. A friend noticed his talent and took him into his studio and trained him.
Defregger became a famous artist and the head of an important art institution.
