"Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket,
but on a
lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your
light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and
glorify your Father is in heaven. " Matthew 5:15-16

We are to be imitators of Christ. If we are not patterning our lives after Christ, then we are failing in obeying Him. The pattern set before us is the life of Jesus. We are able to be imitators of Him. |
Over twenty years ago, a teacher was teaching young children. One Sunday morning, a young girl came to her and said," I want to be like you when I grow up. " This young girl's father did not attend services, but her mother and her siblings did, making it difficult for her at home. They had no physical relationship, but the teacher said the child's words sent shivers through her. Fifteen years later, they saw one another again. She told the teacher she was attending medical school to become a doctor. We never know who is watching our example and what may happen. |
The Biblical example used here is the apostle Paul. Even though Paul had persecuted the church of Christ earlier in his life, he lived diligently for the Lord. He taught , was jailed and suffered persecution for the Lord. |
