Carl Bloch (1834–1890) The Sermon On the Mount

The sermon on the mount marks the beginning of a period in Jesus' life which some call the Great Galilean Ministry. This sermon which is recorded in Matthew chapters 5,6, and 7 is the longest record of Jesus' teaching in the New Testament.

From it we learn the basics of the teachings of the Lord and it also includes the Beatitudes in Matthew 5: 3-12 .

Conflicts arose between Jesus and the Pharisees and they accused him of associating with publicans and sinners. They looked for ways to accuse him when he claimed equality with God.

During this period he completes the choosing of his apostles and trains them to carry on his work after he is gone.
