The Sea of Galilee is a large body of water in Galilee.
It is about thirteen miles long and though the waters can be peaceful, they can quickly become storm-tossed due to the prevailing winds.
This is exactly what happened one time when Jesus and his disciples started across the lake in a small ship. There were other little ships with them.
Jesus was asleep on a pillow in the "hinder" part of the ship (the back of the boat) when a violent storm arose. The waves were so high the ship was soon full of water.
The disciples were terrified and began to cry out to Jesus, "Master, save us! Don't you care that we are about to die!"
This was an easy problem for Jesus to solve. He stood up and spoke to the wind saying, "Peace, be still."
Immediately the storm ceased, the wind stopped blowing, and there was a great calm. The disciples were so afraid and said to one another,"What kind of man is he that even the wind and the sea obey him?"
This is the end of the Great Galilean Ministry, year two. Here Jesus teaches a large group of parables.
This is the thirteenth miracle recorded in Jesus ministry.
