Jesus Heals the Mute

Jesus had been teaching his disciples. They had asked him to teach them to pray and he had taught them what we call The Lord's Prayer. Then he had talked to them about how God as our heavenly Father gives good gifts to his children.

A man was brought to him who had a devil in him which caused him to not be able to speak. Jesus cast the devil out and the man was able to talk. People who had known him were amazed at the transformation.

But some accused Jesus of casting out devils by the power of Beelzebub, the chief of devils. They wanted him to show them some sign to prove he was from God.

He told them Satan does not cast out his own devils, therefore the miracles he was doing were done through the power of God. He also cautioned them. His lesson was that when the devil has been cast out, the person needs to replace it with good things or else the devil will return and bring seven of his devil friends with him. The state of the man will be worse than it had been in the first place.

This is the twenty-seventh recorded miracle of Jesus.

The senior deacon in charge of seating people at church has been having trouble with his job. He has seated the high school juniors, the 11th graders, all over the house time and time again. He knows their appointed seats are the eleventh 11th row, near the front, but he has "senior moments" rather frequently. He is very polite to everyone, but a little slow .. maybe dumb??
