We have two new biographies which have not appeared in the newsletter.

Few people have contributed more to technological advancement than Jack Kilby. In the summer of 1958, working alone in his lab at Texas Intruments, he developed the idea and made a prototype of the integrated circuit which has made possible such things as space travel, computers, microchips for medical use etc. Robert Noyce in California came up with the same idea about the same time, so both men are given credit as co-inventors. Your students will enjoy reading about this humble dedicated man.

Many years earlier in 1778 the patriot Molly Pitcher carried water to the tired soldiers at the battle of Monmouth and stood by her husband and manned his cannon when he was wounded. Years later a monument was erected to her at the battle site.

A Personal Note:

My days are spent going to the nursing facility to see my husband Murray and working on the website when I'm at home. Murray is in hospice care now and is receiving excellent care. I could not give him the level of care at home he is receiving where he is. Rose, the 24-hour-a-day caregiver from Kenya, lovingly looks after him and cares for and cooks three meals a day for Murray, Donna, and Myra, the other Alzheimer residents there.
